LA FAMILIA IS BACK!
The Garcias is a reboot of the Nickelodeon hit show The Brothers Garcia, which ran for four seasons from 2000 to 2003. It was a multi-award-winning series for its non stereotypical portrayal of a family that just happened to be Latino.
In the new series, we jump forward 15 years. The Garcia kids are grown up and now have children of their own, and we will see the extended Garcia family travel to the beautiful Riviera Maya in Mexico, a place full of self-discovery, where they will all learn what it really takes to be a “familia.”
A talented chef in the making, Max travels to Mexico with his grandparents, uncles and cousins, but is constantly saddened by the fact that his mother is still in San Antonio.
The tenacious wife of George, Ana is ecstatic to be back in her hometown in the Riviera Maya, but realizes that living together with her extended family will prove to be a challenge that will lead her to confront the most essential family values.
Ray, now a dean of a university, decides to use his vacation in Mexico to finally finish his passion project, a book on Myon history, and to rekindle his relationship with Sonia.
The youngest daughter to Carlos and Yunjin, Andrea loves anything science related and aspires to someday be an astronaut like her Uncle Larry.
Now a successful entrepreneur, George travels to Mexico with his wife, daughter, and the rest of the Garcias to enjoy paradise and connect with his Mexican roots. However, he quickly finds out that he is not as Mexican as he expected.
Alexa is a complete free spirit and art fanatic who dreams about one day being a great artist even though her dad, Carlos, has a hard time excepting her risky dream.
Sonia, now the grandmother to four Garcia kids, travels with Ray to Mexico for a much needed break from the stresses of running her hair salon. but this glimpse into retirement leads her to contemplate what her true calling is.
Although Lorena now leads a successful career in journalism, she struggles with the fact that she more than anything wants to be a present mother to her son Max, whose father Julian is currently under military deployment.
Yunjin, A complete earth-mama, raw-foodie, and yoga enthusiast, is married to Carlos and, despite her peaceful nature, will have to muster her strength to adapt to life with her extended family.
The strong-willed activist daughter of George and Ana, Victoria arrives in Mexico to realize that even paradise holds causes to fight for.
Carlos, now married and with two daughters, has been working as a business partner to George and, although he enjoys the success of their ventures, the fact that he was unable to follow his own dreams still is a source of frustration for him.

WHY A REBOOT?
The Brothers Garcia received numerous awards, positive reviews and lots of publicity around over 50 produced episodes that aired in over 40 countries in multiple languages. It is one of a handful of shows ever produced that shed a positive, humorous light on a family that happened to be Latino.
However, because there continues to be a lack of shows that portray Latinos with a sense of normalcy, the mission behind The Garcias is to champion the aspirational family-centric values of the Latino community and to share these universal themes that will entertain, educate and inspire.
“Bedtime at the Garcia house is about dinner, homework and sibling rivalry. It’s not about immigration, gangs or poverty, because this is a handsome, freshly scrubbed middle class Latino family.”
— Los Angeles Times
“I was 10 years old when this show started airing. I’m Swedish, and this was was super-relatable despite it being a show focused on a latino family in America. It had universal appeal, it was funny, it was comfy. Great show!

“The theme literally brought me back to be 7-8 years old seeing this on TV for the first time. Now I’m reunited with a piece of my childhood.”

“Best show ever, I always watched this show when I was a kid and now I can’t wait to show my kids. Hopefully I can buy this on DVD.”
